ultimate aim of the art of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, Welcome to Sacramento Shotokan! We are an affiliate dojo of Shotokan Karate of America (SKA), the oldest Karate organization in the United States. Starting its existence as The Southern California Karate Association and eventually becoming SKA, we have been teaching traditional Karate in the United States since 1955. SKA has more than 120 dojos in North America as well as in thirteen countries including Canada, France, Israel, Switzerland, Japan, and Hong Kong. The Sacramento Dojo is located just off El dorado Hills Boulevard and serves the El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Sacramento and Cameron Park areas. SKA and the Sacramento Dojo are dedicated to teaching Karate in the traditional Japanese manner. Our three senior instructors have well over one hundred years of experience in Shotokan Karate between them. Class structure allows for the admittance of new adult students at any time of the year. Since we are a non profit organization our rates are very reasonable. There are no contracts or extra fees for testing. Members of the Sacramento Dojo participate in regional special events such as clinics, exchange practices, tournaments, and special classes at the Ohshima Dojo lead by Tsutomu Ohshima, the founder and chief instructor of SKA.  Walt
BranamYodan (4th degree black belt) Walt trains directly under Mr. Ohshima. He began training in SKA in 1973, at the Long Beach Dojo in Southern California. He earned his black belt in 1979, and began instructing at the Sacramento SKA dojo that same year. Black Belts from other systems often seek him out for instruction, recognizing his skills, experience and ability as an instructor. He promoted to the rank of Yodan in 2002. |
